Reading
We are currently reading "The Outsiders."
Our essential questions for the unit are:
1. What are the costs and benefits of conformity or nonconformity to a peer group? How do we measure these costs and benefits?
2. How does a person's relationship with his/her peers affect the kind of person he/she will become?
Writing
We will be writing an Expository Essay this month.
The students will write to explain a prompt given to them.
Social Studies
We are finishing a chapter on Egypt where we looked at the role geography played in shaping Egypt.
We will begin a Chapter on Ancient Greece where we will look at the different forms of government tried in Greece.
Science
We are wrapping up our Energy Production Unit with a persuasive essay on which type of energy production your student would promote using.
We will then be moving on to our new Science Kit "Lights."
Math
The 8th grade just started a new book "Say it with Symbols."
The 7th grade is currently on "Moving Straight Ahead."
