Meet the Superintendent

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Green Mountain School District. As I begin my sixth year as the Superintendent of this fantastic district, I am continually amazed at the outstanding students, phenomenal staff, and supportive parents that I have the privilege to lead and serve.

This year brings with it several exciting changes, opportunities and challenges to our great district. Most interesting is our qualification as a Provisional 2 school. This is a grant program that we qualified for due to the number of students that qualified for free and reduced meals last year. This program provides free breakfast and lunch this year for ALL Green Mountain students, regardless of their qualification. It is exciting to bring some of our families hard earned tax dollars back to our community in a way that will benefit all families with students at Green Mountain. It remains critical that EVERYONE complete and return the Free and Reduced meal application this year, as our grant is only good for this year. If we don’t maintain our percentage of qualified students this program will revert to pay for lunch program.

Also impressive is the receipt of the $6 million-dollar Small Schools Modernization Grant that we were awarded in late spring. We have used some of those grant dollars to install a steel covered ramp, walkway and staircase to the back of the brick elementary building. We also upgraded our walk-in/freezer to provide space for the increased volume of free breakfasts and lunches we will be serving. Lastly, we installed a commercial dishwasher in our kitchen to facilitate more efficient labor usage and to ensure the cleanest cafeteria environment possible.

We will be having ongoing conversations with the school board and district stakeholders this year to determine the prioritization and timing for the use of the remaining grant dollars. The summer of 2027 is looking to be a major modernization process across the district.

Unlike most districts across our state who are in tough financial shape, many even worry about paying their bills each month, GMSD is in solid financial shape. This is due to our self-less School Board whose financially conservative approach to budgeting and thrifty spending allows us to create the best classroom environments for our students and staff while respecting the value of our constituent’s tax dollars. Additionally, our board takes pride in representing the values of the constituents of our wonderful district.

Lastly, and most importantly, we are focused on the academic success of our students in reading, writing, math, science, social studies and physical education. We work hard to make sure our students master the basic academic fields that will best prepare them for their next opportunity in life, no matter what that might be. Over the last few years, we have adopted new math, science and ELA (English language arts) instructional materials and our students’ success has been awesome.
